Ampicillin
Generic: Principen
Indication: Gram-positive and some gram-negative infections; meningitis (neonatal), respiratory, GI, GU infections.
Pediatric dosage: Neonates <7 days: 50 mg/kg IV every 12 hours
>7 days: 50 mg/kg IV every 8 hours. Children: 25-50 mg/kg/dose every 6 hours (max 2 g/dose).
Route: PO, IV, IM
Frequency: Every 4-6 hours (depending on age and infection site).
Warnings: Allergic reactions common in penicillin-allergic patients; adjust dose in renal impairment.

Generic: Unasyn
Indication: Gram-positive and some gram-negative infections; meningitis (neonatal), respiratory, GI, GU infections.
